Therefore, the author has been\nable to use previously reported dowsing methods. As a result, he has come to\nsome interesting conclusions as to the nature of dowsing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He states that he uses the minimum of dowsing tools, namely\na V rod (that is a dowsing tool made from two flexible arms joined at one end),\nand a pendulum. He does not use L rods (two pieces of wire, with a 90-degree bend\nto form handles), which are more commonly used by dowsers today. He points out\nthat it is not the tool that responds to the sought object, but the dowser\nthemselves, and demonstrates this by saying he has successfully dowsed using\nhis hands alone (a practice often referred to now as deviceless dowsing). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He rejects the notion that the dowser is picking up anything\nemanating from the object sought (as we referred to in post of 13-03-2020) an\nidea widely accepted by dowsers. He justifies this my pointing out that he did most\nof his dowsing far removed from the actual site. To achieve this, he has\nsuccessfully used map dowsing, proxy dowsing (with, in one case, only in\ncontact with the proxy by telephone, some 15 miles away) and finally what he\nterms \u201cmental dowsing\u201d.
