It\u2019s a nice illustration of applying dowsing to three unusual \u2018practical\u2019\nproblems. Namely:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Identifying\ncertain genes in sheep.<\/li><li>Identifying\nthe origin of a plant disease.<\/li><li>Locating\nthe prior positions of stones removed from a stone circle.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The interest in the article is not so much about\nwhether the dowsing results were right or wrong. In fact, feedback was only\nobtained for the first application, and in that case the dowsing failed. Rather,\nit is how the dowser goes about the task, the steps involved, the questions\nasked and his analysis of why his dowsing failed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He says, \u201cThe better the understanding of the request\nthe better and more accurate the dowsing results\u201d and stresses the need to establish\na clear mental witness. This was easier for the second task, then the first. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the subject of the quest cannot be easily visualised,\na physical witness might suffice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It seems necessary to know just enough to, but to be\ncareful of preconceived ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Repeating the dowsing question with the same subject, to\nget better \u201codds\u201d, and therefore a more reliable result, seems not to work for\ndowsing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Map dowsing can be a helpful first step if the search\narea is large, but site dowsing is necessary for precision.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here is the content of a talk entitled \u201cDowsing is not just for water\u201d. http:\/\/www.dowsing-research.net\/blog_extracts\/BSD_No237_1992_p113.pdf It was given by Chris Hinsley, to the BSD annual conference of 1991.
